E211,Class II chemical preservatives Sodium Benzoate, that has been used for many years. Sodium benzoate controls yeasts, mold, and bacteria in foods, cosmetics which have pH upto 7.0. Sodium benzoate is readily water soluble and it can be combined with other antimicrobials. Sodium benzoate reduces the overall pH of the finished product. Sodium Benzoate has registered as preservative under the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).
