Lubricants

INTERNAL LUBRICANTS:

These are additives incorporated directly into the polymer matrix during compounding or extrusion. Internal lubricants reduce the internal friction within the polymer melt, improving its flow properties and preventing melt fracture.

EXTERNAL LUBRICANTS:

External lubricants are applied to the surface of moulds, equipment, or the polymer itself to reduce friction and facilitate the release of the polymer from molds or processing equipment. They can be in the form of powders, liquids, or coatings. Common external lubricants include stearates (e.g., zinc stearate, calcium stearate), silicone-based products, and various release sprays and coatings.
