Sodium benzoate has a chemical formula of C7H5NaO2. Sodium benzoate is tasteless and is used in tablets intended to be chewed or allowed to dissolve in water or ingested by mouth.
Sodium benzoate micronised is used as water soluble tabletting lubricant for tabletting fast dissolving pharmaceuticals and/or nutritional supplements. Additional benefit of using micronised sodium benzoate is that it can also act as tablet binder synergist which enhances the binding properties of tablet binding agents.
Lubrication of effervescent tablets has historically been the main stumbling block to an acceptable, marketable product. Typical lubricants such as magnesium stearate are not useful due to their insolubility in water. Most formulators must use water-soluble lubricants such as sodium benzoate. The lubrication properties of sodium benzoate were found highly dependent on its particle size. Both milled and spray-dried sodium benzoate showed far better lubrication properties than 250 μm sodium benzoate particles.
We manufacture following grades of Sodium benzoate micronised
1) Sodium Benzoate micronised (D99 < 30 microns)
2) Sodium Benzoate spray dried (D99 < 100 microns)
